Heroes show up at exactly the right moment.
They step in and provide what is needed in a flash.
They fill us with hope.
They are brave in the face of danger.
They have strong hearts.
They provide a sense of joy that changes everything forever.
They inspire us to carry on their legacy.
Among Evan's heroes, his favorites were Firefighters and EMT crews.
He knew them well. As parents of medically fragile children know, every day is about survival, and more often than we ever expected, Firefighters and EMT crews come to our rescue.
As it turns out, Evan is my greatest hero.
He showed
up at exactly the right time
Just in time for me to live my life knowing the
greatest expression of love possible
He stepped in like a flash
I had no idea he was on his way and would
provide the greatest experience of my lifetime
His actions
filled everyone around him with hope
People whose lives were touched by Evan often
said, "if Evan can do it, then so can I". He overcame what
seemed like insurmountable challenges, day after day
His bravery is beyond anything I
could have ever imagined
Facing a world that often doesn't accept someone
who looks different
and facing surgeries that most
would run from
His heart was filled with love and more
than anything he wanted to share this with everyone
It is what was so endearing
about him and drew in people everywhere we went
He is and always will be the Ambassador of Joy
Fun
and adventurous, wearing a smile and spreading happiness in spite of great
challenges, he was determined to be connected to the world around him and was
determined to find the good in everything
Evan taught me what being a Benefit Creator really means and how it brings amazing strength in uncertain times.
My hope for everyone in this uncertain moment of time, when we are relying on heroes, is that we see the potential within ourselves to be Benefit Creators, to be Heroes. While this can be very challenging when we are living through moments of great stress, there is a way to meet the world with a loving and even joyous heart which connects and supports us all. When we do this, the world around us shifts and miracles happen.
